  • About Our Agency

         Mercy Nursing is licensed through The Illinois Department of Public Health.  Our agency is bonded and carries all Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Insurance.  Mercy Nursing is a member of the National Private Duty Association.

         A scheduler and nurse are on-call 24 hours per day.  All scheduling is handled through the office for your convenience, this allows us the flexibility to accept your cancellations 2 hours prior to assignment at no charge to you.

         We meet with prospective clients and their family members, free of charge and assess their needs, both medically and personally.  We coordinate communication with your doctor, therapist, family, and social service agencies.  We work in conjunction with hospice or Medicare agencies involved in your care.  We accept private, insurance, and state payments.  Mercy Nursing is an approved agency for government programs including DCFS, DRS, DSCC and VA.  Our agency is a preferred provider for various insurance companies.

    Our Staff

  • R.N.'s/L.P.N.'s (Including Skilled Nursing): Provide the safe delivery of nursing care services.  Including ventilator care, tracheostomy care, wound care, medication administration, injections, and phlebotomy.

    C.N.A.'s (Certified Nurse Aides and Nurse Aides): Provide assistance to the client, give and reinforce activities, assist with daily needs such as bathing, dressing, monitoring vital signs, observation or change in habits and/or health.  Aides monitor unusual signs in activity and reports to the nursing supervisor assigned to your case.  Nurse Aides may also provide homemaker services along with hands-on personal care.

    Homemaker's: This type of employee can assist you with meal preparation, getting groceries, running errands, reading and companionship.  Homemakers do not perform any hands-on care.

  • Our History 

         Mercy Nursing has been employee owned since 2001.  Mercy Nursing was originally founded by a nurse and was based in her Sterling, Illinois home.  The agency grew and underwent location, as well as, ownership changes prior to Don Burton purchasing Mercy Nursing in 1995.

         Burton Placement was founded by Don and Peg Burton in 1991.

         Burton Placement is composed of the corporate Burton Placement and Mercy Nursing offices located in Sterling, IL as well as branch offices in Rochelle, Dixon, Sycamore, Oregon, and Princeton.
